Whether you are suffering from arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, hip pain, or shoulder pain from sleeping on your side — or you just need to get a better night’s sleep — the Soft-Pedic™ pressure-sensitive memory and latex foam mattress may be just what the doctor ordered.

Created by Dr. Rick Swartzburg, D.C., to help his patients suffering from all types of pain, the Soft-Pedic is an amazing combination of four layers of latex and memory foam. The Soft-Pedic was designed especially for side sleepers who want to sink into the mattress deeper to allow even more cradling of their shoulder and hips, but do not want to lose the overall support of the mattress. We accomplished this by adding an extra 3-inch layer of hypo-allergenic Resiliflex-SD Soft foam and placed it in the third layer. We zoned this layer to provide more softness for the shoulders and legs, but used a ResiliFlex-HD Firm Center Support Layer where the hips and low back are to add a greater support for that heavier area of the body.

The top layer is two inches of our extra-plush 10 ILD soft density memory foam for that wonderfully plush feel. The second layer is the highest quality 20 ILD. memory foam, followed by the 3 inches of zoned Taluxe™ latex foam that has a medium firmness which adds more support, while retaining a comfortable feel and transitions into the extra supportive fourth layer, the firm high resiliency polyurethane base.

The Soft-Pedic uses our specially designed, hand-stitched, hypoallergenic, stretchable terry cover that is easily removable for washing. It has a special breathable design that will ventilate better than most covers to keep your body temperature constant, so you will not have to worry about this mattress getting too hot.

The Soft-Pedic mattress is soft enough to contour to the bumps and curves of your body, but firm enough to provide proper support and will never bottom out. While the Soft-Pedic was specifically designed for side sleepers, it can also work well for back sleeping. However, we usually recommend the Tri-Pedic for a pure back or stomach sleeper.

The standard Soft-Pedic is 11 inches deep, but we can customize any level of thickness to meet your needs.

Memory Foam Information

Visco-elastic memory foam was originally developed for NASA, for astronauts undergoing the high pressure of G-force testing. It is a dense foam that molds to the shape of your body. Researchers realized that this high density elastic memory foam was ideal for relieving pressure on burn patients, and this is how the trend of Memory or Visco-Elastic foam started.

Tempur-Pedic® successfully introduced this visco-elastic memory foam to the consumer marketplace many years ago. Unfortunately for consumers, they have to import this memory foam from Sweden since there weren't any domestic manufacturers making this unique foam. The high cost of importing bulky memory foam on container ships is ultimately passed onto the consumer. Once manufacturers realized that there was a demand for this visco-elastic memory foam, they started to make it here throughout North America. Fortunately, this unique memory foam is not patented. Therefore, any foam manufacturer is able to duplicate the exact same foam product, although many do not choose to use the same quality. In fact, most of the memory foam you see available today comes from China, where they do not require the same stringent requirements that U.S. manufacturers face. This allows there to be a wider discrepancy between the high quality U.S. produced memory foam found from a certified U.S. manufacturer like Ultrabed and the much lower quality foams produced in China for the vast majority of the market place.

As a manufacturer who depends upon our reputation that has grown tremendously over the last 10 years, we are able to avoid the heavy advertising costs and pass the savings down directly to our customers!
